Mega Drive Sports Games
From Sega Retro
I'm getting to the point where we have the whole SOA "relicense the JP/EU game around a sports guy" situation:
Super League in Japan/EU -> Tommy Lasorda Baseball in US
Naomichi Ozaki no Super Masters in Japan -> Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf in the US/EU
Super Real Basketball in Japan/EU -> Pat Riley Basketball in US
Taito's arcade game Final Blow -> Final Blow in Japan -> James 'Buster' Douglas Knockout Boxing in the US/EU — this one is the most interesting because it's a reskinned arcade port
Telenet Japan's/System Sacom's GrandSlam: The Tennis Tournament '92 in JP/EU (in EU the '92 is not in the name) -> Jennifer Capriati Tennis in the US
Soft Vision's Top Pro Golf 2 in Japan -> Chi Chi's Pro Challenge Golf in the US
and let's throw this one in too for series continuity: T&E's New 3D Golf Simulation: Pebble Beach no Hatou in Japan -> Pebble Beach Golf Links in the US/EU
If we keep the "most used English name" rule, should the EU names be prioritized over the US names in these cases? I'm the kind of person that wants to inform people of THE TRUTH THEY DIDN'T KNOW IN 1991® but ... I still feel a bit uncertain about this so I wanted to open this to your own opinions. - Andlabs 21:53, 1 May 2011 (CDT)
