Communication Carnival Yume Koujou '87 (コミュニケーションカーニバル 夢工場'87) was an event which simulatenously occurred from 18th July to 30th August 1987 in the Japanese cities of Tokyo and Osaka. Sponsored by the Fujisankei Group, Fuji TV and Kansai TV, it was a general summer celebration showcasing achievements of Japan, with live events and demonstrations. It also inspired other organisations within the country to "unofficially" showcase their works during this period, and was the first of what became annual (albeit different) events by Fuji TV in the years which followed.
Sega was one of many companies involved in the proceedings, creating the Nissan-sponsored Mach Vision (which would go on to become Sega Super Circuit) at the Super Game Z pavilion. Sega are also thought to have demonstrated other products, such as a Sega Master System running Missile Defense 3D.
While not thought to have been at the event itself, Yume Koujou '87 is best known in the Western world for its Famicom Disk System tie-in game developed by Nintendo; Yume Koujou Doki Doki Panic, which would form the basis of the Western Super Mario Bros. 2 (later Super Mario USA in Japan).
