Mega Drive version

Several changes to the game were made for its Japanese release - additional sound effects (and trademarking) are displayed when the game is loaded, the addition of signposts to starting hub area, palette changes for several enemies, checkpoints were added in the penultimate level to save progress and a new level was added so that, if Ecco was eaten by the Vortex Queen in the final boss, they would play through a non-auto scrolling level called 'The Stomach' rather than replay the prior level in its entirety.
