Far Nation (ファーネーション) is an unreleased MMORPG developed by Sega, originally with the Sega Dreamcast in mind. The game was billed as being one of the first persistant online RPGs to be released for a console, alongside the likes of Phantasy Star Online, however the project was quietly cancelled sometime in 2001 for unknown reasons.
Apart from being an online game developed in Japan, little is known about Far Nation, as while Sega mentioned the game several times across the second half of 2000 and early 2001, no screenshots or gameplay footage were ever shown, nor were any specific details given about its contents. Following the demise of the Dreamcast, Charles Bellfield suggested the game may appear on other platforms[1], though it is not thought development moved beyond the Dreamcast.
