Kid's Medal

From Sega Retro

The Kid's Medal (キッズメダル) series is a set of Japanese-exclusive arcade games focused around a touch screen for younger players. As medal games, they are not operated with real money but can dispense "medals" as prizes.

The system is not fully understood - it is believed to use re-worked ST-V hardware accepting special types of cartridges. Cabinets are broadly the same (and were reycled for Kouchuu Ouja Mushiking, among others), with games and artwork being easy to replace and maintain, similar to what was being seen with most upright NAOMI games at the time.

Sammy is given credit for some releases. It is currently unknown whether they are credited as the main authors of the system (similar to the Atomiswave) or the technology was licensed from (or following the merger, "shared" with) Sega.

Sega Logistics Service announced it would end service on the machines on March 31, 2017.[1][2]
