Master System version
Unlock everything
Get more than 15,000 points to quality for the high score table, then enter your name as KEY. This will unlock three new difficulty modes, selectable in the options menu:
- "EXTRA", a harder than hard difficulty.
- "NO WAIT FOR NTSC", which speeds up the game considerably.
- "ENEMY ZERO LIFE", which will mean fights can be won with just one hit.
It will also allow you to play as The Alien.
Game Gear version
The same tips exist in the Game Gear version as in the Master System version, but the method of unlocking them is different.
Unlock Extra
On the title screen, press 
. If successful, a sound effect is heard and the EXTRA can be selectable in the options menu. It will also allow you to play as The Alien.
This command appears on the screen when the game is cleared with no continues on Normal or higher difficulty[1].
Unlock Enemy zero
With the extra mode deactivated, press on the title screen. If successful, a sound effect is heard and the ZERO can be selectable in the options menu.
