- Danger - Both players start on the deciding round with the minimum amount of health
- Kombat Kode - Activate a kombat kode permanently (see kombat kode section below)
Enabling the cheat menu also allows you to access secret characters without having previously completed the game as the appropriate character.

Enable 'Meat' character model
In two player mode, on the character select screen, keep selecting the 'Group Mode' option and have the same player win the subsequent match as each of the 20 selectable characters. After this has been accomplished, the next character the player selects will have their model replaced by the 'Meat' character model.
Alternate costumes & weapons
On the character select screen, highlight a character, hold START and press any action button to rotate the character's picture. One rotation will always enable the character's 'player two' alternate costume, but rotating twice or three times can sometimes enable a third costume or alternate weapon. Rotating four times resets back to the original costume/weapon.
Kombat kodes
Like the 3rd generation entries in the series, Mortal Kombat Gold also features "Kombat Kodes". As a two-player versus match is about to begin, six boxes showing icons at the bottom of the screen can be manipulated by both players. The first three boxes are cycled through by tapping player one's , and buttons, respectively, and the second three by the second player.
A new feature in this game is that individual kombat kodes can also be enabled for all 2 player games in the cheat menu (this overrides any code you input using the 6 boxes).
This time there are only 7 digits, usually referred to in-guides as 0-6 (e.g. to get the third icon, tap the button twice):
