Mega Drive version
Hidden players
The Mega Drive NBA Jam has 12 hidden players which are all selected in a similar way. When prompted, enter the initials below, and when highlighting the third character, hold START , then press the desired button.
The selected character is always the first player regardless of what team is selected. The second player can be swapped by pressing . These characters are just sprite changes, with the playing statistics coming from whoever they are set to be replaced.
"_" indicates the blank character.
Air Dog
Eric Samulski, then-nine-year-old son of Acclaim's vice president of product development, Paul Samulski.
Chow-Chow
Asif Chaudhri, Acclaim developer.
Clinton
Bill Clinton, the 42nd president of the United States, who was in office when NBA Jam launched.
Gore
Al Gore, the 45th vice president of the United States, and Clinton's running mate.

Warren Moon, NFL quarterback.

"Tonight's Matchup" codes
These should be pressed during the "tonight's matchup" screen, prior to the game starting.
Show shot percentage display
Press and hold + until the tip-off. Now a percentage will be shown when attempting to score, showing how likely the ball is to go in.
Power up defence
Power up fire
Press either , or seven times, then hold ++.
Power up turbo
Press either , or five times, then hold ++.
Activate Juice Mode
Press either , or thirteen times, then hold +.
