American Baseball

Sega Retro policy is to use the most common (and thus most recognisable) name, not strictly the first name it was released under. Europe + Brazil + Canada > US, therefore "American Baseball". If this were the English Wikipedia there might be a fight for Reggie Jackson but without multiple language variants of this wiki we have to go with what is closest to the "global" name... if you catch my drift. -Black Squirrel (talk) 13:30, 21 June 2013 (CDT)

Name change

Hey Black Squirrel, I apologize, I didn't know about that policy when I moved it.

However it should still remain Reggie Jackson Baseball, even if my note was incorrect, and not for anything reason related to release date. Instead, that the game was the first SoA celebrity-sponsored video game, one that set a very notable trend for both Sega’s American presence, and sports video games in general.

That notability far supersedes the policy being referenced here. It’s the single-most notable thing about this game. To rename the article anything else diminishes that notability. Not by a ton, it’s not like damaging the article or anything, but it’s also not something I can understand the reasoning behind. There is no reason this specific article (and it’s Walter Payton counterpart) should not reference that notability first.

Regardless it was my bad, and I apologize again for having to make you move the article back. If you’d like me to do the legwork on moving the Payton article back, just let me know (EDIT: Just reverted it back to American Pro Football now) But I wanted to share my reasoning, I strongly believe the notability should be paramount to anything else.
