Sega Corporation, Inc. v. Level-5, Inc. was a 2012 case in which Sega Corporation sued developer Level-5, claiming that their Inazuma Eleven series of football games infringed on Sega's "touch screen football" patents established by Touch Striker.[1]
History
In December 2012, Sega Corporation sued fellow Japanese game developer Level-5, claiming that Level-5's Inazuma Eleven series of football games infringed on Sega's "touch screen football" patents established by Touch Striker. In response, Level-5 noted that it had been releasing games in the series without issue since 2008.[1]
Result
While the details of the case were largely kept out of the public eye, Sega Corporation's lawsuit seems to have been either unsuccessful or settled privately.
