Policenauts (ポリスノーツ) is a graphic adventure game by Konami originally released for the NEC PC-9821 computer in 1994. It was written and directed by Hideo Kojima, who also created Snatcher. It was subsequently remade for the 3DO in 1995, with this version serving as the basis for the PlayStation and Sega Saturn ports, both released in 1996.

History
The Saturn version of Policenauts was the final console port of the game and was advertised as the definitive version.[4][5] It includes an in-game glossary, support for the Virtua Gun (for the shooting sequences), additional scenes and dialogues, additional character close-ups, uncensored breast animations, bonus making videos, alternate ending credits, and full 24 FPS full-motion video cutscenes (at the expense of slightly reduced video quality, compared to the PlayStation version's 15 FPS cutscenes). The in-game glossary and making videos were actually content ported over from the 3DO's Policenauts Pilot Disk and the PlayStation's Policenauts Private Collection disc, which were bonus discs that were sold separately for those respective console versions. Because of this, the number of discs was increased to three from the previous versions' two discs. The first-print run of the Saturn version was packaged in a slipcover that included the game case itself and a hardbound picture book, complete with stickers to customise a Virtua Gun and Saturn Backup Memory cartridge.
The Saturn version was at one stage advertised for a forthcoming release in North America (with a rough October, later December[6] 1996 release date), but this never materialised. However, an English fan translation patch of the Saturn version was released at Policenauts.net in October 2016.[7]
