Skyworks Technologies was founded in November 1995 by noted Activision programmers David Crane and Garry Kitchen, and initially headquartered in Hackensack, New Jersey.[1] The two's previous venture, Absolute Entertainment, had closed that same month, with most of the company's staff migrating to the newly-established game studio.

The company changed its name to Skyworks Interactive in December 2007.
