El Rescate del Talismán ("The Rescue of the Talisman"), was a Spanish television game show, produced by the Spanish state-owned public-service television broadcaster Televisión Española in collaboration with the Spanish TV production house Grupo Imagen Europa and broadcast from 1991 to 1994 on the Spanish TV channels La 1 (first and second seasons) and La 2 (third season).
Adapted[1] from the British children's adventure game show "Knightmare", created by British television producer Tim Child, the show followed a Fantasy plot in which, an evil wraith called "El Señor de la Maldad" ("The Lord of Evil"), stoled a magic talisman and it was up to a team of four brave contestants helped by a Magician (played by Spanish actor Eduardo MacGregor in the first season), to regain it from his claws.
One contestant, using a special helmet that would block his vision, called "El Casco Mágico" ("The Magic Helmet"), would be guided by their team mates and the Magician, trough a number of rooms of a computer generated castle (accomplished by chroma key techniques).
In each room the guided contestant was confronted by physical challenges or actors in the roles of several Sword and sorcery characters who would ask him a riddle, which once defeated would allow him to proceed in his quest for the magic talisman.
Failling to do so, would sent him through a deep abyss where he would end emprisioned in a dungeon and the quest would be continued by one of his team mates. The game would be lost if all four members of the team eventually "died".
After defeating the last challenge, a magic spell which consisted of single word or name (i. e. "Nostradamus") was revealed to the contestant which, following the plot of the show, would use it to defeat the evil wraith "El Señor de la Maldad" in his dungeon and save the emprisioned contestants.
As the first season of the show was officially sponsored by Sega Spain, the teams of contestants would win several Sega Video game consoles. These were changed for computers in the second and third seasons of the show.
