Help with Nightmare Circus story?

Hey Asagoth, hope you've been doing well! Merry almost Christmas!! Hey, when you've got a free moment, could you help me clean up the plot summary of Nightmare Circus? I've got a very crude translation here, but this is definitely something I'm not experienced. This game is weird and fascinating and I'd like to learn more about it :) CartridgeCulture (talk) 23:31, 21 December 2021 (EST)

Merry almost Christmas to you too ;) ... the translation is not that bad...
  • When the Circo del Diablo (The Devil's Circus) first began setting up its tents on the edge of the city, people began to gather to purchase tickets for its opening night.
  • While the circus tents were raised, Leto Diablo, the circus owner, stopped from tent to tent, ordering the artists around and treating them like slaves. Every (circus performer, employee... Leto Diablo treated everyone badly and harshly), clown, and trapeze artist feared and despised Diablo for his cruelty. Because he was losing money with every performance, Leto Diablo began to hate his circus.
  • But Diablo had a plan. He opened an insurance policy with a very high value for his circus, and at the start of the show on opening night, he would take advantage of the darkness and douse the tents with gasoline. (unknown), with a simple strike of a match, would transform the entire circus into a carnival of flames and screams of terror (he would burn that "motherfucker" down, killing everyone inside the circus tent... basically a fucking massacre...).
  • One of the fire's survivors saw Diablo light the match, and testified at his trial. Diablo was found guilty of the murders. When sentenced to the electric chair, he cursed the people of the city.
  • "You can't kill me!", he boasted. "The spirits of all your beloved dead (beloved ones) are mine. I'll torture their souls for eternity!"
  • Shortly after Diablo's death, strange facts (or things if you prefer) began to happen. People began to see strange lights on the circus grounds. An old man swore he saw the circus tent raise from the hereafter and return to the same place where it had been burned . Others heard laughter blowing like the wind in the desert...
  • Currently, years after the tragedy, the story is considered only a legend. But the shaman warrior Raven lost his family in the fire and believes it really happened (or knows, if you prefer... he lost his family... so he don't needs to believe... because he's sure it happened).
  • Raven runs (rushes) into the desert, where the Circo del Diablo once existed. Under the heat of the sun, only ashes serve as a reminder of the horrible massacre. But this night, as soon as it grew dark, the sky remained covered by black clouds. Suddenly, the Nightmare Circus arose, floating in space where there had been previously nothing. Raven must defeat this haunted prison of spirits to avenge the death of his family.

and it's basically this... ;)...--Asagoth (talk) 03:27, 22 December 2021 (EST)

Awesome, thank you again dude! super appreciate the help as always CartridgeCulture (talk) 04:28, 22 December 2021 (EST)

These "French" manuals

are they yours or did you find them?

Because there is a set of scans out there that dropped all the non-French pages. That is to say, they were "European" manuals with most of the pages missing.

Just want to check - I genuinely don't know if Sega started producing single-language manuals for some Mega Drive games -Black Squirrel (talk) 11:30, 9 February 2017 (CST)

I found them...and i think they are genuine french manuals, the pages are corretly numbered...look for example at the back of the manual for Micro Machines 2 Turbo Tournament...--Asagoth (talk) 12:39, 9 February 2017 (CST)
Oh some of them definitely are - localisation was more common towards the mid-90s, I'm just curious about the older games like Dick Tracy and Gain Ground. No worries -Black Squirrel (talk) 13:17, 9 February 2017 (CST)
It's a common thing in some european countries like France and Germany ... i have more of these to upload...--Asagoth (talk) 13:30, 9 February 2017 (CST)
Some of them are probably fake. Just look at the part numbers on the back covers: [1] [2]. Also, the paragraph spacing is inconsistent and the number of pages should even. - Hivebrain (talk) 19:04, 9 February 2017 (CST)
I found them on a french site... scanned Mega Drive manuals are not easy to find...and yes i know that some of them are European Multilingual manuals...some are genuine like the World Cup USA 94 manual or Micromachines 2... i have more to upload...--Asagoth (talk) 03:41, 10 February 2017 (CST)

PT MD codes

Looks like you can just add releases to games with md_date_pt= and md_code_pt=. - Hivebrain (talk) 16:32, 16 August 2017 (CDT)

Oh... ok sorry... thank you anyway...--Asagoth (talk) 16:35, 16 August 2017 (CDT)

watch out

File:MD UK TVAdvert CyberRazorCut 2.mp4 - got a duplicate

though I don't blame you for missing it - we've not been very good at organising adverts -Black Squirrel (talk) 16:06, 27 December 2017 (CST)

OK then... i'll pay attention next time...--Asagoth (talk) 16:09, 27 December 2017 (CST)

Billboard

https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Billboard-Magazine.htm

Might be easier to mirror full issues on Retro CDN - that's where those Cash Box scans probably came from originally (I nabbed most of them from archive.org). -Black Squirrel (talk) 14:55, 11 November 2018 (CST)

But they have watermarks... there's some exceptions... but ...--Asagoth (talk) 14:59, 11 November 2018 (CST)
I wouldn't worry too much in this case - they're awful scans but it's extremely unlikely we'll get better ones any time soon. - your call -Black Squirrel (talk) 15:09, 11 November 2018 (CST)
Really!? ... Now things just got more fun... you don't even need to ask twice...--Asagoth (talk) 15:16, 11 November 2018 (CST)

SMS/GG screenshots

What emulator are you using? They look darker than they should. - Hivebrain (talk) 12:45, 3 January 2019 (EST)

Kega Fusion...and yes... "Brighten" is marked...--Asagoth (talk) 13:17, 3 January 2019 (EST)
Compare this with this. SMS Power probably uses Meka for screenshots. I usually use Emukon. I think Kega has the wrong colours even for Mega Drive games, so it's not recommended. - Hivebrain (talk) 14:40, 3 January 2019 (EST)
Kega Fusion provides "good enough" screenshots for Mega Drive and Game Gear (when set to "brighten") - I've been using it for years without problems.
But I've been using Gens+ for Master System, because in Kega Fusion it is a bit darker than other emulators (but not for SG-1000 for some reason... dunno).
Replacing all the older ones isn't a massive super duper concern - it's not like the CRT televisions of the day could perfectly replicate colour every time. From what I gather, all the Atari 2600/5200/8-bit screenshots are using made-up palettes. -Black Squirrel (talk) 15:00, 3 January 2019 (EST)
Really?... Please don't get me wrong... but in these "things"... I'm not that "Expert" like you or Hivebrain (and many others arround here)... honestly it amazes me how you guys can distinguish all kinds of differences in these screenshots... I'm blind like a "mole" (no... I never wore glasses) ... I thought Kega was ok since I use it when we made those "Region Coding" pages...--Asagoth (talk) 15:12, 3 January 2019 (EST)
We can fix them all en masse in the future. I'd just need to write a program that adjusts the colour values to whatever they should be, then download every screenshot, run the program, and upload the corrected ones. - Hivebrain (talk) 15:19, 3 January 2019 (EST)

Strana Igr

I saw that you recently put in a few scans of Strana Igr. I have a request for you. I found a page with all scans https://yadi.sk/d/xyKA5L673RNnnE/%D0%A1%D1%82%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B0%20%D0%98%D0%93%D0%A0. If you have time you can put them on Retro CDN (mainly from 1998-2000). However, the files are large and I would like to insert it myself, but knowing my internet connection, it will take a very long time. The decision is yours.--Lukdriver14 (talk) 10:51, 28 May 2019 (EDT)

Yes ... I can do it... no problem... I was just helping User:Pecky ... I didn't even knew it was "Strana Igr" ... Pecky told me it was called "Gameland"... I thought it was a different magazine... I only realized it was "Strana Igr" after uploading three magazines... do you want just those?--Asagoth (talk) 13:20, 28 May 2019 (EDT)
I have not seen all of them yet so for now only in these are the information that would be usefull on this site. I think that those from the years 1998-2000 are enough for now. Thanks for help.--Lukdriver14 (talk) 10:09, 29 May 2019 (EDT)
Ok man... as you wish... no problem... ; )...--Asagoth (talk) 10:49, 29 May 2019 (EDT)

Sorry for the late reply... nope... I never got that error... no offense... I'm just a user like you... I'm not an administrator here... sorry... you better ask our fellows Black Squirrel (Wiki Sysop) or Hivebrain (Administrator) ... they are the "Bosses" here ... --Asagoth (talk) 15:34, 21 May 2020 (EDT)

Gambler

Hi. Could you put those two magazines on Retro CDN? Thanks

- 13:35, 13 July 2020 (EDT)

Done ;) ...--Asagoth (talk) 16:24, 13 July 2020 (EDT)
I have these two more, if you have time you can upload that. Thanks again.--11:24, 20 July 2020 (EDT)

Sega Channel manuals

Hi there. I notice you uploaded some General Instrument cable headend manuals (for the ACC-4000) back in 2017. Do you have any other information or software related to the ACC or the GI cable systems? I'm digging into Sega Channel and the GI cable systems with the goal of building a headend. If you prefer email - my email is on my website at https://www.philpem.me.uk/contact . I'd love to find a copy of the ACC-4000 (or any other ACC-series) software but it seems to be really hard to find.

Sorry mate, unfortunately I have no other information ... that manual was just something I found on a website in 2017 and uploaded here.... I'm not a "techie" like you (no offense) ... All I can do is share with you this 1997/98 catalogue (which you probably already know) ...--Asagoth (talk) 06:14, 15 May 2023 (EDT)
Thanks - I didn't have that, actually. I'll see if there's anything else in the Internet Archive for that site. I don't suppose you remember the URL of the site you found the documents on? Philpem (talk) 15:07, 17 August 2023 (EDT)
I found them in an old discussion thread on the AssemblerGames forums (assemblergames.net), but that website no longer exists... those scans were uploaded there by the same guy who acquired the manuals...--Asagoth (talk) 18:30, 18 September 2023 (EDT)

Translation

Can you translate for me, part from 22.17-23.20? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pV9nqnEG0M4&t=0s&ab_channel=STARTUOL -Geti3220 (talk) 14:26, 13 June 2023 (EDT)

What he basically says in the interiew is that when Sega acquired some of its European distributors such as Virgin Mastertronic , Virgin Loisirs and others which later became Sega in some way or another they spent a lot of money in the process (because the bigger the family... the greater the expense)... and to avoid doing the same in South America Sega asked TecToy to take charge of distribution in the MercoSur countries (the Southern Common Market established in 1991)... ;) ...--Asagoth (talk) 03:08, 14 June 2023 (EDT)
I was more interested in any words about Paraguay (currently there is nothing on the website about it and most say that they had no representation there, only rights). The automatic translator catches something about the capital of the country but I can't understand it.-Geti3220 (talk) 05:54, 14 June 2023 (EDT)
He says that TecToy established a branch office in Buenos Aires and another in Montevidéu... what they established in Asuncion was not exactly a "branch office" but rather a law firm (a law or attorney's office) to deal with the legal side of the business in the region... ;) ...--Asagoth (talk) 06:56, 14 June 2023 (EDT)
That is what I exactly looked for. Thank you for help. - Geti3220 (talk) 11:43, 14 June 2023 (EDT)
You're welcome ... ;) ...--Asagoth (talk) 11:49, 14 June 2023 (EDT)

Gaps

Would you be able to upload these files to Retro CDN, because I wanted to use them to fill in the gaps in certain articles (they would look better with that added in)?

Thanks Geti3220 (talk) 07:00, 4 February 2024 (EST)

I'm sorry to bother you but I spotted some important problem. May you upload Svet Kompjutera 133 and 135 but with two changed images? I'm mean this image changed to this one and this image changed to this. I know I've complicated things a bit, but I care about aesthetics...
P.S I think you accidentally mixed up the issues. I wrote 51 not 53 :) Geti3220 (talk) 13:01, 4 February 2024 (EST)
Done... ;) ...--Asagoth (talk) 14:25, 4 February 2024 (EST)
