Ratings

Now that I got a massive load of GamePro review ratings up on here from the Master System to the Wii, I need to point out a few things regarding the ratings:

  • Issue #100 did a special feature that does short reviews of various handheld games, including X-Men: Mojo World (here) and Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble (here), and all games only received a Fun Factor rating. I propose that they could use a dedicated rating system override to only display a Fun Factor, but I don't know how to add that in the cargo.
  • The review for Battle Arena Toshinden URA gave the game a Fun Factor of 0.5. As far as I'm aware, this was the first game to get a rating this low, and this was before the rating icons were redone to accommodate ratings lower than 1.0.
  • Issue #123 is the last issue to from 1997-1998 before the rating icons were changed for the ones used during the Dreamcast era. I only found one review worth documenting from that issue and it's for Plane Crazy (here). The icons used should be tweaked slightly to accommodate it.
  • From 2004 onwards, GamePro had moved away from using icons for their ratings, and during 2006 things got a little bit awkward when they started handing out x.25 and x.75 ratings. I already handled the default rating system for issues where they resorted to only Fun Factor ratings (from 2007 onwards), but would we have to just use number ratings for 2004-2006 issues?
