I think the best way to deal with part numbers is with extra templates in the file description:

SuperMonacoGP GG JP Box Back 01.jpg

{{partdef|671-0680-01|JP box|product=Super Monaco GP (8-bit)|format=GG}}

F355Challenge NAOMI US Manual Deluxe.pdf

{{partdef|4201-6507-01|Owner's Manual|product=F355 Challenge|format=NAOMI}}
...
{{partdef|601-10369|STEREO PWR AMP 47|page=149|product=F355 Challenge|format=NAOMI}}
{{partdef|560-5406-V|XFMR 100V 23V5A X 2|page=149|product=F355 Challenge|format=NAOMI}}
{{partdef|117-5225|TERMINAL 3P 20A|page=149|product=F355 Challenge|format=NAOMI}}
...

Each line adding a row to a part numbers cargo table. That way we can query for all parts releated to a specific game, or anything that starts with 671, or how many products use the same screws.

We may be able to incorporate some of this into the already existing image templates, e.g. MDBox.
