Localisation comparisons

All regional versions of the game use the same ROM, changing a handful of details in the game for the localised audience based on whether it is played in a Japanese system or a western one.

It should be noted that all regions use the same opening and ending scenes from the Japanese Mega Drive version of the game.

Playing in Japanese adds "The Shooting Star" as a subtitle, and the title screen is changed to reflect this.

Planet Fanturn/Terra features very peculiar differences by region. On a Japanese system, it is a complete Round with two areas and a boss. For reasons unknown, the first area is skipped on a western system. It is, however, still accessible on western systems via Debug Mode.

Following the case with Planet Fanturn/Terra, the sound test is amended accordingly. "Ring Rink" is only playable on a Japanese system, while on western systems "Strange Pirates" is amended as the "RD2-1 Theme".
