Inner Brain Co., Ltd. (株式会社インナーブレイン) was a Japanese computer software developer, papercraft publisher, and sound production company. Founded sometime in late 1994 or early 1995, the company is most known for its Active Mascot series of computer desktop virtual assistants.

Company

Early in the company's existence, Inner Brain developed desktop virtual assistants based on Japanese pop rock duo Puffy AmiYumi for electronics manufacturer Yamaha Corporation.[1]

Although Inner Brain's work in the world of video games was generally limited to music composition or sound production, they eventually developed and produced the 1996 Sega Saturn music video creation program Ai Iijima: Good Island Cafe.

Around late 1999 or early 2000, Inner Brain filed for bankruptcy. NTT Publishing, who shared a close relationship with the developer, later took on the sales, business, and support responsibilities of some of the company's former products (most notably Active Mascot.)
