The player must also watch out for innocent bystanders - these are signified by men holding their hands in the air, or women in dresses. Shooting a bystander will make the word "MISS" appear on the screen and incur a life penalty. Shooting an outlaw before they draw their gun will also result in a penalty. Shooting certain background objects will award bonus points and may reveal a bomb, which will wipe out all on-screen outlaws as well as restore some of the life meter if shot at - the more outlaws wiped out by the blast, the greater the amount of life regained.

Wanted is a shooting game developed by Sanritsu and published by Sega for the Sega Master System. It is set in the American old west and makes use of the Light Phaser peripheral.

Gameplay

Playing the role of a sheriff, the objective of Wanted is to shoot down the enemy outlaws that appear on the screen using the Light Phaser in seven rounds of combat. At the start of the game, the player can choose from one of three difficulty levels, with "1" being the easiest and "3" being the most difficult. If the player doesn't shoot at a difficulty level, the first one is automatically selected.

Outlaws can walk onto the screen and come out from hiding places such as windows and from behind buildings, and must be shot down quickly if they draw their guns, otherwise they will open fire and reduce the player's life meter. At the end of most scenes the player must shoot at a mid-boss, who moves quickly and takes 9 shots to defeat.

If the player's life meter runs out completely during a scene, the sheriff is taken to Boot Hill and the game is over. The player can choose to continue as many times as they need by shooting "YES!" on the Game Over screen.

Outlaws will also appear from windows to toss dynamite at the player, which will take away large portions of the player's life meter if they are allowed to reach the ground.

If the player gets a Game Over on this scene, they must restart the game from the beginning of Scene 6 if they choose to continue.
