Headcannon Inc. is an independent American video game development company founded by Sonic scene member Simon Thomley, most known for working with Christian Whitehead on the creation of the first fan-developed Sonic the Hedgehog game - Sonic Mania.[2]

In 2009, future Headcannon founder Simon Thomley was approached by Christian Whitehead and asked to aid in creating a pitch demo of the title by providing information gained and pseudo-code developed from reverse-engineering certain original Sonic gameplay elements, such as Sonic the Hedgehog CD's Special Stage, and the boss mechanics of EGG-HVC-001. Once development had officially started, Thomley would not develop for the series again until Sonic the Hedgehog (2013).
