Stage select
On the title screen, press on Controller 2. A digitised "Yeah!" will confirm correct entry, and the stage select screen will appear after selecting a character and starting the game. Works in the Japanese version only.
70 lives
On the title screen, press on Controller 2. A digitised female screech will confirm correct entry. The lives setting in the options screen will now display 70 lives, but attempting to change the lives setting will lock the maximum lives back to 3, requiring the player to enter the code again. Works in the Japanese version only.
Debug mode
On the title screen, press on Controller 2. A digitised voice clip will confirm correct entry. While the game is paused, press to advance the game by one frame. Works in the Japanese version only.
All weapons
Pause the game and press on Controller 1[1]. A digitised screech will confirm correct entry, and both players will be given all weapons. Works in the Japanese version only.
Control the stars on the Game Over screen
On the Game Over screen there is a little group of yellow stars. With a second Control Pad, it is possible to move them:
- , and rotates around the three axes.
- zooms in while zooms out.
- sets it back to the default pattern.

Debug level
A debug level is is hidden within the game and cannot be accessed during normal play. To access it, use patch code FFFA48:0001 in any version of the game and start the game as normal[2].
