Harmony (ハーモニー) was an official magazine/newsletter distributed internally to Sega employees in Japan. It was not distributed regularly - sometimes the gap between an issue was a month, other times two months, presumably depending on what the company was doing at the time.
Harmony appears to have typically covered the main bulk of Sega's official activities during the period in which each edition was made; regular examples include venue openings, event attendances, and consumer product launches, ranging from video games to toys. Other features such as transcriptions of executive speeches, charts structuring company divisions, introductions of new employees, and internal reorganizations would also be enclosed on irregular occasions.
Many pieces of Sonic the Hedgehog artwork created at Sega specifically for covers of Harmony have often since resurfaced in numerous other places. These first gained wider recognition through their inclusion in Sonic Jam, and later Sonic the Hedgehog The Screen Saver. The artwork has also reappeared in calendars, catalogues, Sega Freaks trading cards, and most recently Sonic Origins; the latter two specifically acknowledge the magazine by its name.
It is thought that Harmony began at some point in the late 1960s or early 1970s[1] and ended in 1999.
