The plot of ''{{PAGENAME}}'' has Mario and Luigi watching the stars until a star crashes onto the ground. An alien creature warns the Mario Bros. of an oncoming threat and that they need to stop the conqueror of galaxies with their army. Although there is one alien creature in the story, the intro depicts multiple Shroobs from ''Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time'', and there is no army in-game to fight alongside Mario and Luigi.

The game's plot is confusing. It's basically a Mario Galaxy wannabe but it fails. I'm going to quote another bootleg research site I found and then saw the plot. This is the plot.

"Mario 4: A Space Odyssey's plot has Mario and Luigi watching the stars until a star crashes onto the ground. An Alien creature (despite the intro depicting multiple Shroobs from Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, the text only states one) warns Mario and Luigi about an oncoming threat and that they need to stop the conqueror of galaxies with their army. (However, in-game there is no army that fight alongside Mario and Luigi)."- bootleggames.fandom on their research of the Mario 4: A Space Odyssey bootleg.

While there have been changes from ''Mario 3: Vokrug Sveta'', the gameplay remains the same as before, retaining the awkward physics and poor hit detection. The {{A}} button is used to run, and {{B}} is used to jump; however, throwing fireballs is mapped to {{C}} instead of sharing the same button as running. The only power-ups available to Mario are Super Mushrooms and Fire Flowers, and extra lives are gained by collecting 100 coins. The new additions to this game are the ability to play a 2-player game where the second player controls Luigi, and a shop that can be accessed by pressing {{C}} while the game is paused. In the shop, the player can buy Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, continues and extra lives. Many emulators have trouble with the shop; when the player buys something from the shop, the game can freeze. On some emulators, this can be fixed by switching the music banks on the options screen.

Confusing, right? Well, guess what, since they're the same developers as the Felix bootleg, that Mario 3 bootleg and many more. It needed to have those stolen infamous Continue/Game Over screens.

Whereas the previous game had 22 levels, this game only has a total of 16 levels, featuring a combination of Shy Guys, Bob-ombs, Shroobs and giant Goombas. Like with other games developed by BMB, the game continues the trend of using stolen assets from various sources, as levels not only use graphics from ''Super Mario All-Stars'', but also from ''Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island'' and ''New Super Mario Bros.''. The final boss is Fawful after his transformation into the Dark Star Core in ''Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story'', and is fought in the arena that Dark Bowser is fought in. The music and sound effects remain the same.

Basically, the Continue screen is stolen from an art someone made. And it shows Mario being face-hugged by a Blooper while a Pirahna Plant comes out of its chest, referencing the famous movie Alien. We have the infamous "AA" and "HET" options, which mean: "Yes" and "No".

The continue and game over screens both use artwork that are stolen from various t-shirt designs and share the same infamy as other games from the same developer. The continue screen uses artwork from a t-shirt design called "Game Over" by Aaron Williams,{{ref|https://web.archive.org/web/20180908105255/https://www.offworlddesigns.com/game-over-t-shirt/}} and the game over screen uses artwork from "Original Gamer" by Dann Matthews.{{ref|https://web.archive.org/web/20200831234139/https://www.destructoid.com/teefury-s-original-gamer-shirt-is-awesome-173843.phtml}}

These games are also infamous for its gameplay itself, according to the same site I quoted on the plot part. It's a hack of another infamous bootleg. Mario 3. Mario's sprite is quite well though, but the controls are frustrating as hell because they're bad, and Mario floats a freaking lot. I don't have a copy of the ROM to post it on here but if someone does, you can post it in here.

Mario 4: Kosmicheskaya Odisseya (Mario 4: Космическая Одиссея), also known as Mario 4: Space Odyssey, is an unlicensed game developed by BMB for the Sega Mega Drive. It is a modified version of BMB's earlier game, Mario 3: Vokrug Sveta. The game is inspired by Super Mario Galaxy, and uses artwork from a variety of sources.

Story

The plot of Mario 4: Kosmicheskaya Odisseya has Mario and Luigi watching the stars until a star crashes onto the ground. An alien creature warns the Mario Bros. of an oncoming threat and that they need to stop the conqueror of galaxies with their army. Although there is one alien creature in the story, the intro depicts multiple Shroobs from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and there is no army in-game to fight alongside Mario and Luigi.

Gameplay

While there have been changes from Mario 3: Vokrug Sveta, the gameplay remains the same as before, retaining the awkward physics and poor hit detection. The A button is used to run, and B is used to jump; however, throwing fireballs is mapped to C instead of sharing the same button as running. The only power-ups available to Mario are Super Mushrooms and Fire Flowers, and extra lives are gained by collecting 100 coins. The new additions to this game are the ability to play a 2-player game where the second player controls Luigi, and a shop that can be accessed by pressing C while the game is paused. In the shop, the player can buy Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, continues and extra lives. Many emulators have trouble with the shop; when the player buys something from the shop, the game can freeze. On some emulators, this can be fixed by switching the music banks on the options screen.

Whereas the previous game had 22 levels, this game only has a total of 16 levels, featuring a combination of Shy Guys, Bob-ombs, Shroobs and giant Goombas. Like with other games developed by BMB, the game continues the trend of using stolen assets from various sources, as levels not only use graphics from Super Mario All-Stars, but also from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and New Super Mario Bros.. The final boss is Fawful after his transformation into the Dark Star Core in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, and is fought in the arena that Dark Bowser is fought in. The music and sound effects remain the same.

The continue and game over screens both use artwork that are stolen from various t-shirt designs and share the same infamy as other games from the same developer. The continue screen uses artwork from a t-shirt design called "Game Over" by Aaron Williams,[1] and the game over screen uses artwork from "Original Gamer" by Dann Matthews.[2]
