Guardian Angels Safety Patrol is an unreleased Sega Genesis beat-'em-up game set to be published by Nuvision Entertainment. Based on the New York-based volunteer crime prevention organization, the Guardian Angels,[2][3] it was initially announced at Summer CES 1991[4] and set to be released in early 1992,[1][2] but was cancelled for unknown reasons.

Blurb

In the game, set in the 21st century, the player uses silent blitz raids, unique defensive techniques, and "awesome" martial arts to clean up a city ridden with crime, while deciding how many Angels will go on security patrol, on which blocks and which streets.

History

Circumstantial evidence suggests that Nuvision's Bean Ball Benny, an equally unreleased Mega Drive title, may have evolved into Guardian Angels Safety Patrol. Programmer Charlie Heath recalls that, at the time of its development, Bean Ball Benny lacked a license. As that game featured a crime-fighting vigilante patrolling urban streets and subways,[5] it is speculated that it was reworked into Guardian Angels following the acquisition of a somewhat-recognizable license.
