This short article is in need of work. You can help Sega Retro by adding to it.
The Sega RingWide arcade board is an arcade platform developed by Sega as one half of their Ring series (the other half being Sega RingEdge). Both machines are based on PC architecture, using Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 2009 as their operating system in an attempt to encourage third-party companies to produce arcade games for these systems.
RingWide hardware is more basic in nature than RingEdge, with only 8GB (compact flash) of storage, a quarter of what can be found on RingEdge boards. The RingWide board is used to support games that are less graphics-intensive and that require less high-end specifications. It is, in a sense, the "cheaper" option.
