The World Series Baseball franchise was built by Sega in the mid-1990s, who have gone on to release many games for a number of platforms. It is one of Sega's lesser-known franchises, with most entries in the series being exclusive to North America.
The last World Series Baseball game to be released by the company was World Series Baseball 2K3, a PlayStation 2 and Xbox game. It is presumed the franchise lives on through 2K Games's Major League Baseball 2K series.
