Revision as of 07:31, 14 January 2022
This list is incomplete. The following list has been marked as incomplete. If you can, please complete it. |
- Back to: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Saturn).
Mega Drive version
Random select
Highlight Rain (or Noob Saibot if you're the second player) and press + START . This will make the game pick a character for you at random.
Cheats, secrets and killer codes
These three cheat codes from Mortal Kombat 3 continue to work in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, except this time all three menus are unlocked at once.
Enter one of these on the main menu:
Play as Human Smoke
Select Smoke and hold + HP + HK + RN + BL (++++ by default) when the match starts. If entered correctly Smoke will explode into Human Smoke.
During the introduction of the hidden game, press and hold +++. If entered correctly, you will hear a firing sound. There is no equivalent code for three-button controllers.
Kombat Kodes
Like Mortal Kombat 3 before it, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 also features "Kombat Kodes". As a two-player versus match is about to begin, six boxes showing icons at the bottom of the screen can be manipulated by both players. The first three boxes are cycled through by tapping player one's , and buttons, respectively, and the second three by the second player.
There are 10 digits, usually referred to in-guides as 0-9 (e.g. to get the third icon, tap the button twice):

Kabal animality
While present in the Mega Drive version of Mortal Kombat 3, all animalities were removed from this version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3... except Kabal's.
Performing Kabal's animality (close to opponent, HOLD HP , then release HP (swap for if facing left)). will cause his head to fall off. In certain circumstances, it can break the game in more interesting ways[1].
Unused content
Chameleon
Chameleon, who would make his official debut in Mortal Kombat Trilogy exists in this version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, but is incomplete. He has no special moves or fatalities, though borrows Scorpion's stage fatalities and friendship. On the "battle plan" screen, he is represented by Kano's icon.
You can force the game to use Chameleon as the player character with the Action Replay code FF0127:19.
In Mortal Kombat Trilogy Chameleon is a hybrid of all the male ninjas (Scorpion, (classic) Sub-Zero, Reptile, Eramc, Rain, human Smoke, and Noob Saibot) with a colour changing palette. Here he is always yellow.
Unfinished bios
Several unfinished bios exist in the game, and can seen in the demo sequence by using the Action Replay code FF021F:XX (where XX is the character ID).]
- E, Smoke is as unfinished as the bio was in Mortal Kombat 3, using text from Kano.
- 15, "classic" Sub-Zero, has no text at all.
- 16, human Smoke, also has no text.
- 19, the unfinished Chameleon, has neither a name nor text, and has broken palettes and graphics.
The remains of Sheeva (B), Motaro (1A) and Shao Khan (1B) have no bios and will crash the game.
Saturn version
Change opening quote
When Shao Khan is laughing on the title screen, press (DULLARD). If entered correctly, the "there is no knowledge that is not power" quote will become "imagination is more important than knowledge".
This could be a nod to the fact the DULLARD code has been used in prior Mortal Kombat games.
Freeplay mode
During the "Prepare for Kombat" and copyright screens, press . You should hear "excellent" if entered correctly.
Freeplay mode gives you unlimited "kredits".
Cheats
During the "Prepare for Kombat" and copyright screens, press (CRAZY CYRAX). If entered correctly, Shao Khan should laugh.
Now on the main menu, highlight "Kombat" and press to be able to select a new "?" cheats menu.
Play as Human Smoke
Select Smoke and while the game is loading, press and hold + RN + HP + BL + HK (++++ by default (and instead of for the second the player)) until the battle starts. If successful, you should explode into Human Smoke at the beginning of the first fight.
Kombat Kodes
As with the Mega Drive version, Saturn Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 has Kombat Kodes, however this time they are changed by pressing , and .

Rain can be found in the graveyard
This is an infamous tease for the character Rain, who appears in the arcade version's attract mode, but is not playable. Due to the long loading times of the Saturn port, the attract sequence was removed, so this message is the only remaining reference to the character.

This is a tip for the 1995 Williams pinball game, No Fear: Dangerous Sports. If the player holds the extra ball button at the beginning of the Air challenge mode, then hits the skydive while it's at 25 million points, you will be awarded 50 million instead.
