Germ Squashers is an exclusive homebrew arcade action game developed and published by 8 Bit Evolution in January 2016 for the Sega Mega Drive, NES, SNES, iOS, and Android, with all proceeds from the sale going towards the Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization that raises funds for the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[1]

In addition to the physical releases of the game, a Pittsburgh Retro Gaming Convention was also held on January 23, 2016 to promote retro gaming goodness and to raise more funds for the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

    Story

Children's Hospital has been invaded by nasty bacteria and viruses and the doctors need your help to clean things up! Join young Cesar and Britanny as they arm themselves with vital lifesaving medicine and attack those nasty germs head on. Be careful of bacteria with their stretchy flagellum and the highly contagious viruses that spread disease all over the surfaces of the hospital. Get together with a friend and team up to take them down, or play solo as the character of your choice. It's up to you to make the hospital safe again!

    Gameplay

Germ Squashers is a one or two players arcade action game where you have to clear the screen of all germs and viruses before time runs out in order to progress forward. Keep an eye out for the flashing germs. When they are defeated, you can gain power-ups like invincibility, and a temporary time freeze.[2]
