The game is a platformer where the player controls Wayne and must rescue Garth in "twisted" versions of their hangout locations. Levels consist of multiple sub-levels, followed by a boss fight. At the end of each sub-level, Wayne finds Garth, but he is abducted again by a large purple hand. Before and after every level, Wayne and Garth retell their adventure in a manner similar to the television skit and with references to the movie.
 
 
 
Wayne moves with {{left}} or {{right}}, ducks with {{down}}, and jumps with {{B}}. He strums his guitar with {{C}}, which shoots "chords," sound waves that act as projectiles that can attack enemies. He can strum his guitar while running or jumping but not while ducking. When he strums it in midair, he swings his arm in a windmill motion like Pete Townshend, so the projectile is delayed.
 
 
 
Wayne has starts with five "Worthiness Points," which are hit points that he loses when he is hurt by an enemy or a hazard. He loses a life if he loses all of his Worthiness Points. The game ends if the player runs out of lives, but there are unlimited continues.

Wayne's World is a platform game for the Sega Mega Drive, loosely based on the movie with the same name. It was only released in North America.

Gameplay

The game has the player control Wayne, who needs to save Garth. B jumps, C strums your guitar, firing a sound wave in the process. The four stages are loosely based on settings and themes of the film.
