Creature Shock: Special Edition, known simply as Creature Shock (クリーチャーショック) in Japan, is a shoot-'em-up game for the Sega Saturn, although it was planned to be an exclusive title for the Mega CD. The North American version contains extra levels not present in the Japanese version as well as slightly better quality FMV.

History

Development

Creature Shock was initially developed as an exclusive for the Sega Mega CD, with release planned for early 1995 by Virgin. development was then shifted to be one of the first titles available for Atari's Jaguar CD in the autumn of 1995. both versions were delayed and eventually cancelled due to poor reception of the Jaguar version.

It is not known if the Mega CD version was cancelled prior to the Jaguar versions announcement or if both versions were planned to be released simultaneously.

The game was eventually released in 1996 for the PlaySatation, 3DO and Saturn to critically negative reviews, with a CDI version being released only in PAL territories in 1997.
