Teku Kobayashi (小林 帝久) is a Japanese game designer and director. His first work in the gaming industry was for System Sacom, at which he planned the game design of Deep Fear. After this, he worked on PlayStation 2 titles for Sony Interactive Entertainment, first through satellite studio Deep Space Inc., on Extermination and then the company itself, designing the two Ape Escape sequels, before joining Sega Corporation's AM Plus team as a director in August 2005. There, he most prominently directed Sega Race TV. Upon AM Plus' 2008 disbandment, he joined the Mobile Asia Division, where he remained until the end of 2010.[1]
Following stints at Now Production and Groovenauts Inc., Kobayashi returned to Sega as a freelance assistant director with Sega Interactive R&D1, in charge of the game and UI design for the earlier stages of development on Sega World Drivers Championship.[1] Since leaving, he has made the arcade rhythm game Tetote x Connect for Taito through Liona Inc., and as of October 2022 is the CEO of his own game and software development studio Gentle Giants LLC.[3]
