Frogger

From Sega Retro

Should the screenshot be of the arcade version?
Also in MAME the parent frogger set is (C) KONAMI while all the others are (C) SEGA... did Konami distribute this games in Japan? Or is this Konami one a different release? - Andlabs 13:43, 25 May 2012 (CDT)

Well Konami actually made Frogger so my guess is they distributed it themselves in Japan. MAME don't have complete sets of arcade games and I'm not sure if they list the undumped variants -Black Squirrel 14:15, 25 May 2012 (CDT)

okay

Right so, after a tiny bit of research, Sega appear to have owned the trademark "Frogger" at some point. Sierra made computer versions (though they also released an Atari 2600 version because they love to confuse), Parker Brothers made cartridge versions, both under license from Sega. Should we be documenting all of these variants?

I only ask because of... erm this. Sega are mentioned a lot. Konami seem to have taken back the name in the western world sometime in the mid-90s, before commissioning Majesco to make ports. This probably explains why the game missed Nintendo consoles entirely during the 80s and early 90s.

This is also an issue because Sega still owned the trademark when Frogger II: ThreeeDeep! came along. From the looks of things, this game had nothing to do with Konami at all and was designed by Parker Brothers internally, crediting Sega along the way -Black Squirrel 15:40, 25 June 2012 (CDT)

Oh geez, Game Watches too?

I just found out that a company called Nelsonic were given the rights to various video games in the 80's to make "Game Watches" out of them. Right now the only one I can find about a Sega licensed one is Frogger.

The only info I've found on this are these two links:

There also seems to be AT LEAST two variations of this thing.

Unreleased/Prototype Game Gear version

I've noticed someone was posting a bunch of false information the other day, but one thing that was mentioned seems to be true. SMS Power! has a page about it and released a dump as well (check the mirrors ("Before 2004") if you don't have an account in there). I'm too sleepy to find the forum thread(s) now. --AllisonKidd (talk) 21:44, 20 February 2015 (CST)
