Digital Monster Ver. S Digimon Tamers (japanese: デジタルモンスターVer.S デジモンテイマーズ) is a Sega Saturn simulation game based on the Digimon franchise. This was actually the first Digimon video game and plays more like an expanded version of the LCD handheld toys.
The gameplay involves raising a digimon from birth, utilizing many of the same features from the handheld toys such as feeding, praising, scolding, and training.
Although the game has no online capability itself, the environment simulates a PC in which you maintain your pet through a program window, and can access the Digimon Network. Among the pages included for instance are a News page and an internet forum which is updated over time with new posts (often including hints or links). By obtaining links, you can type in a URL in the address bar to access a location which may allow the user to download an item, battle, or explore. for instance. You can also link up with other in-game trainers, or even participate in the main adventure mode which involves battling against the hackers (who are the main antagonists) for medals. This, along with it's WonderSwan companion, are the only Digimon video games thus far to remain completely faithful to the original toys.
