Mario 4: Kosmicheskaya Odisseya (Mario 4: Космическая Одиссея) is an unlicensed game developed by BMB for the Sega Mega Drive. It is a modified version of BMB's earlier game, Mario 3: Around the World. The game is inspired by Super Mario Galaxy, and uses artwork from a variety of sources.

Story
The plot of Mario 4: Kosmicheskaya Odisseya has Mario and Luigi watching the stars until a star crashes onto the ground. An alien creature warns the Mario Bros. of an oncoming threat and that they need to stop the conqueror of galaxies with their army. Although there is one alien creature in the story, the intro depicts multiple Shroobs from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and there is no army in-game to fight alongside Mario and Luigi.
Gameplay
While there have been changes from Mario 3: Around the World, the gameplay remains the same as before, retaining the awkward physics and poor hit detection. The button is used to run, and is used to jump; however, throwing fireballs is mapped to instead of sharing the same button as running. The only power-ups available to Mario are Super Mushrooms and Fire Flowers, and extra lives are gained by collecting 100 coins. The new additions to this game are the ability to play a 2-player game where the second player controls Luigi, and a shop that can be accessed by pressing while the game is paused. In the shop, the player can buy Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, continues and extra lives. Many emulators have trouble with the shop; when the player buys something from the shop, the game can freeze. On some emulators, this can be fixed by switching the music banks on the options screen.
Whereas the previous game had 22 levels, this game only has a total of 16 levels, featuring a combination of Shy Guys, Bob-ombs, Shroobs and giant Goombas. Like with other games developed by BMB, the game continues the trend of using stolen assets from various sources, as levels not only use graphics from Super Mario All-Stars, but also from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and New Super Mario Bros.. The final boss is Fawful after his transformation into the Dark Star Core in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, and is fought in the arena that Dark Bowser is fought in. The music and sound effects remain the same.
The continue and game over screens both use artwork that are stolen from various t-shirt designs and share the same infamy as other games from the same developer. The continue screen uses artwork from a t-shirt design called "Game Over" by Aaron Williams,[1] and the game over screen uses artwork from "Original Gamer" by Dann Matthews.[2]
