Whereas the arcade version features three distinct level styles (and seems to imply time travel), the Master System simply loops the first stage over and over. While this could be attributed to the low storage capacity of the original [[Sega Card]]s it shipped on, it was not expanded upon in the cartridge edition which arrived some months later.

My Hero, known as Seishun Scandal (青春スキャンダル) in Japan, is a beat-'em-up action game developed by Coreland for the Sega System 1 arcade platform. A port was developed and published by Sega for the Sega Master System in 1986. The game was initially released as a Sega Card internationally, and later as a cartridge in Europe, Australia, Brazil and South Korea.

Gameplay

My Hero is a very basic beat-'em-up game, where the objective is to travel to the right, punching and kicking enemies while trying not to be hit too many times yourself. Eventually you will come to a clearing and have to fight a boss - defeating him will briefly reunite you with your girlfriend, before she is kidnapped again. The game loops indefinitely, and ends when the player runs out of lives.

The game only has three levels, each ending with a boss fight. Whereas the arcade version uses a different theme for each level (seemingly implying time travel) along with different mooks and distinct bosses, the Master System version only uses the first level's theme throughout the game. While this could be attributed to the low storage capacity of the original Sega Cards it shipped on, it was not expanded upon in the cartridge edition which arrived some months later.

Development

Master System version

The game was developed in only 2 months, making it one of the quickest to market games for the Master System, as most games had development cycles lasting about 3 to 4 months.[9]
