The following is a list of commonly-encountered References issues.
 +
 +
*Notability: Most published or aired references to Sega are included. However, particularly in the Internet category, we require a certain level of notability for new entries.
 +
*Sponsorships: Any officially-sponsored references, such as award shows or motorsports events, belong in Sponsorships.
 +
*Recurring references: Any commonly-recurring references, such as a character in a television series, only need their first appearance listed. Ensure to note that said reference is a recurring one.
 +
*Multi-game shows: Any television series which cover numerous games by different companies, like GameCenter CX, only need their first reference covered. Ensure to list any future references in the same listing.
 +
*Hardware in Sonic references: If a reference features someone playing a Sonic game, and it shows them using hardware required to play the game (like a Control Pad (Mega Drive) or Game Gear), that reference doesn't need to be copied here as well.

*This anecdote belongs somewhere. Maybe not here, but somewhere.

*Rename to Film, Television, and Web?
*Replace Home Alone 3's poster with an actual screenshot. Which means watching some of the movie :(
+
*Make a distinction between References and Sponsorships (may need content migrated between articles)?
*Also The Drew Carey Show's image needs to be replaced with one showing the Saturn console they had on top of the TV. Which also means watching The Drew Carey Show :(((

*Limit entries by notability?
*Apparently the yellow robot with the buzzsaw from both Wreck-It Ralph movies is claimed to be a similar robot from Cyborg Justice. It really does look similar, but I'm only hesitating because of how obscure of a reference that would have to be. A lot of other characters in that scene aren't from games at all (they're more "stock game villains"), so maybe this is just the villain representing the 'killer robot' trope? On that same note, a lot of claimed Sega references from this film are hard to verify. i.e. the "Angel Kids" from Angel Kids? They look like stock cherubs but I don't know. Also, this primary source claims a clown is from Snacks'n Jaxon... cmon.

Mark these as "noimage" to hide the image box of the table, once I figure out how to do that. If that's even possible. Anyway, these one's don't have associated images. CartridgeCulture (talk) 03:09, 29 March 2022 (EDT)

References guide

The following is a list of commonly-encountered References issues.

 • Notability: Most published or aired references to Sega are included. However, particularly in the Internet category, we require a certain level of notability for new entries.
 • Sponsorships: Any officially-sponsored references, such as award shows or motorsports events, belong in Sponsorships.
 • Recurring references: Any commonly-recurring references, such as a character in a television series, only need their first appearance listed. Ensure to note that said reference is a recurring one.
 • Multi-game shows: Any television series which cover numerous games by different companies, like GameCenter CX, only need their first reference covered. Ensure to list any future references in the same listing.
 • Hardware in Sonic references: If a reference features someone playing a Sonic game, and it shows them using hardware required to play the game (like a Control Pad (Mega Drive) or Game Gear), that reference doesn't need to be copied here as well.

To do

 • Rename to Film, Television, and Web?
 • Make a distinction between References and Sponsorships (may need content migrated between articles)?
 • Limit entries by notability?
