Bonkers Wax Up! is a platform game starring Disney's Bonkers. It was released for the Sega Game Gear in 1994, though was later brought to the Sega Master System exclusively for Brazil. It was released under the Sega Club brand.
Story
Bonkers D. Bobcat is an anthropomorphic bobcat who was once a popular cartoon star, then he became a police officer. The cruel Madame Who-Said is encasing "toons" (cartoon characters) in wax to add to her wax museum. She wants to add Bonkers to her collection, so to lure him to her museum, she captures his partner, Lucky Piquel, and begins turning him into a wax statue. While being dragged to the museum, Lucky leaves behind a trail of pickles for Bonkers to follow. Bonkers must stop Madame Who-Said before she finishes waxing Lucky and rescue the other toons that he finds along the way.
Gameplay
The game is a platformer played as the toon cop Bonkers in the evil Madame Who-Said's wax museum, which resembles a haunted house. In most levels, Bonkers must find and collect seven pickle clues left by his friend Lucky and rescue any waxed toons that he encounters. Levels are large and non-linear, requiring exploration to uncover all of the pickles. Enemies include ghosts, monsters, mummies, and spiders. Pressing START in the Game Gear version or PAUSE in the Master System version pauses the game and shows the score and a compass that points to the direction of the nearest pickle (with the number of pickles remaining). The level ends as soon as Bonkers finds the last pickle. Every few levels, Bonkers fights a boss.
Bonkers walks with or . He crouches with and jumps with . He defeats enemies by jumping on them. Bouncing off enemies can be used to reach higher places. He can climb stairs or ladders with or when standing in front of them. Levels consist of multiple stories connected by staircases. Bonkers can run or climb stairs more quickly by holding with the direction. He can jump much further when he is running. He slides to a stop when he stops running, which does damage to enemies if he passes through them.
Bonkers can play bonus levels to find the pieces of the Toon Toaster, a special weapon that he can use to "un-wax" the toons who have already been turned into wax statues by Madame Who-Said (though it is not necessary to do this to rescue Lucky and complete the game). If Bonkers obtains the Toon Toaster, he can use it for the last level. He can take it out with and fire it with . He can aim it upwards by holding or while shooting.
Bonkers has a health bar that goes down when he is hurt by enemies. He loses a life when his exhausts his health bar; his health is not restored between levels. He also loses a life if he falls down a bottomless pit. He revives near the same spot after he loses a life, retaining the pickles that he found. The game ends (with Bonkers and Lucky both being turned to wax) if he loses all of his lives. There are two difficulty levels (Club and Hard).

Bonus levels
Bonkers enters a bonus level if he finds one of his friends (Toots, Marilyn, or Jitters) in the museum and touches them. In a bonus level, Bonkers rides an office chair on a mine cart rail course, trying to collect items and dodge mine carts and enemies. In addition to items that restore the health bar, award bonus points, or award extra lives, there are Toon Toaster parts that Bonkers can collect. There are three bonus levels, and each contains a different type of part (which appears multiple times in the same bonus level). If Bonkers collects each type of part, he receives the Toon Toaster weapon in the last part of the last level. Bonkers can reattempt a bonus level by finding the same friend again in the same level.
Bonkers speeds up with and jumps with . He can lean the chair back or forth with or .
