Gameplay
The player controls a battleship which drops depth charges at submarines below in order to destroy them. The battleship must also avoid mines launched by the submarines in order to stay alive.
History
Legacy
As well as being released as a stand-alone arcade machine, Deep Scan was later released in dual arcade cabinets, where the second game would either be Invinco or Head On 2. Each game had its own set of controls, and the marquee was divided into two.
The game was ported to the Atari 2600 in 1983 under the title of Sub Scan (known as Subterfuge during development), and was included as a minigame in the Sega Saturn port of Die Hard Arcade. This version retains the original graphics but includes updated sound, and every 200 points earned will give the player an extra credit for use in the main game.
