This short article is in need of work. You can help Sega Retro by adding to it.

F1: World Championship Edition is the sequel to F1. It was released for the Sega Game Gear in 1995 exclusively in Europe and Australia.

While similar to its Mega Drive counterpart, F1: World Championship Edition features fewer teams, tracks and settings and is always played from a third-person perspective. Tracks are also 2D, lacking the slopes of the Mega Drive version (and several 3D effects).

Unlike the Mega Drive version where you select a constructor, then driver, on the Game Gear you select drivers. Only six constructors (of the fourteen seen in the 1994 season) are represented in this version of the game.

  • D.Hill (Williams)
  • D.Coulthard (Williams)
  • M.Schumacher (Benetton)
  • J.Lehto (Benetton)
  • M.Hakkinen (McLaren)
  • M.Brundell (McLaren)
  • J.Alesi (Ferrari)
  • G.Berger (Ferrari)
  • J.Herbert (Lotus)
  • P.Lamy (Lotus)
  • U.Katayama (Tyrrell)
  • M.Blundell (Tyrrell)

Similarly, only half of the tracks seen in the 1994 season are represented on the Game Gear:

  • Monaco Monaco
  • Japan Japan
  • France France
  • Germany Germany
  • Brazil Brazil
  • United Kingdom England
  • Canada Canada
  • Spain Spain
