DIP switches
When the Takara logo appears, press 
. If successful, Terry's voice will sound and DIP switch settings is added in the Test menu[1].
Use boss characters
When the Takara logo appears, press 
. If successful, Krauser's voice will sound and four players (Billy Kane, Axel Hawk, Lawrence Blood, and Wolfgang Krauser) can be used as player characters[2].
To use these four players in 1 player mode, press HOLD START with the bottom row selected in player select.
Increase credits
In 1 player mode, the number of continues can be increased to 9 by HOLD

on the continue screen after game over[2].
