Pro Yakyuu Super League '91 (プロ野球スーパーリーグ'91) is a 1991 baseball game by Sega for the Sega Mega Drive in their Super League series of baseball games. It was only released in Japan and South Korea. It would later be localized into Sports Talk Baseball for the American market.
Contents
Gameplay
The game is licensed by Nippon Professional Baseball with rosters accurate to the 1990 NPB season. It contains all 12 teams and 300 players of the time. It uses a view from behind the catcher for pitching and hitting and an overhead view for fielding and running. Unlike real professional baseball, there is a "mercy" rule that ends the game when one team is leading by 10 or more runs.
Players can choose from three venues: the Nippon Dome (standard-sized field in a dome), the Moon City Stadium (largest field, nighttime game), or the Red Sun Stadium (smallest field, daytime game). In exhibition games, players can choose which team bats or fields first and whether to enable auto-fielding (where the computer automatically positions outfielders). In single-player games, the player can optionally make changes to the computer player's roster (by enabling "Game Making").
Modes
There are three modes:
- Pennant Race: A single-player mode where the player plays a season of 15, 30, 60, or a full 120 games. The best teams in each league advance the best-of-seven Nippon Series. Season progress is saved to a battery backup.
- Open Game: A single match against the computer or a five-game series against another player. Up to six players can participate in a round robin tournament format. Each player must choose a different team.
- All Star Game: A single match against the computer or another player, pitting the Central League against the Pacific League. Players can substitute players from any team in either league to create a custom team.

Music and sound
This game plays a different theme for each of the teams, which are inspired by the team's actual cheer songs.
