Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi is a platform game released for the Game Gear in 1995. It was developed by Realtime Associates and published by Black Pearl Software. It is an adaptation of the third movie in the Star Wars franchise, 1983's Return of the Jedi.
It is based on the game of the same name released for the Super NES in 1994, which was developed by Sculptured Software and LucasArts as the third game on their Super Star Wars series. While the Game Gear version is a mostly faithful adaptation, some levels were either simplified or, in the case of most of the vehicle-based stages, removed.

Story
After the events of The Empire Strikes Back, the Galactic Empire is constructing a second Death Star to exterminate the Rebel Alliance. With intel that the Emperor will be onboard, the Rebel Fleet launches a full-scale attack on the Death Star in hopes of both destroying it and the Emperor. Meanwhile, Rebel hero Luke Skywalker, now a Jedi Knight, struggles to bring his father, Darth Vader, back to the light side of the Force.
Gameplay
The game is a platformer. Most levels give the player a choice of character to play; characters play similarly but have different weapons. Characters are moved with and and crouch with . They jump with and "superjump" (a spinning double jump) with again while in the air. The superjump can damage enemies with Luke's lightsaber and Leia's staff and morning star. Characters attack with . Projectile weapons can be aimed with the D-pad (including in diagonal directions). Leia's staff and Luke's lightsaber can guard by holding ; Luke's lightsaber can reflect enemy fire. All weapons can be used while crouching or jumping. Characters enter elevators with .
Characters have a "health sword," a bar that indicates their health, which is emptied as they take damage from enemies. If they lose all of their health, they lose a life. They are revived at the beginning of the level or at a checkpoint; the player can choose a different character after losing a life.
