Dragon Ball Z: Buyuu Retsuden

Tales From The Creep
And now something less known... "legend" says that Prisvideo made these VHS covers without Manga Video's approval (the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z anime series had just premiered on Portuguese TV at that time and Ecofilmes/Prísvideo wanted money)... when Manga Video discovered that Ecofilmes used their own covers instead of the original covers used by Manga Video in UK and other foreign releases, they terminated the contract with Ecofilmes... Ecofilmes was supposed to distribute Manga Video's "Neon Genesis Evangelion" VHS cassettes in Portugal after that, but they never did due to that issue with the covers...--Asagoth (talk) 08:51, 25 July 2021 (EDT)
- edit: ... and they reused those same covers in their 2005 DVD Re-releases of those "Dragon Ball Z" movies...--Asagoth (talk) 12:30, 25 July 2021 (EDT)
- edit 2 : ... some Portuguese fellas discussed this some years ago at the forum.projectosoldschool.com forums... the contract started in 1996 and consisted in Prisvideo releasing more than one "title" per month... you can see a list that those fellas made of Prisvideo's VHS monthly releases and some images of those VHS cassettes, plus two images of a catalogue (at the time not many people in Portugal knew what "Manga" was, so they explained it in the catalogue "O que é Manga?" = "What is Manga?"... and it's not even "Manga"... it's "Anime" as we know ) ... it all ended in 1998 when Ecofilmes messed up the covers of the "Dragon Ball Z" VHS cassettes...--Asagoth (talk) 13:48, 25 July 2021 (EDT)
- ...a tv advert from those times (circa 1996) ... and that's all there is to say about these "not-so-mysterious-and-intriguing-by-now" Portuguese versions of Dragon Ball Z: Buyuu Retsuden... there's nothing magical in this story... just Ecofilmes being Ecofilmes ("WE HAVE BOTH DRAGON BALL's AND SEGA's LICENSES... WE GONNA MAKE A LOT OF MONEY...", they said)...--Asagoth (talk) 19:22, 25 July 2021 (EDT)
