Torico, known in North America as Lunacy and in Japan as Gekka Mugentan Torico (月花霧幻譚 TORICO), is a Sega Saturn adventure game which exclusively utilizes full-motion video comprised of pre-rendered 3D animation. The spiritual successor to titles like Yumemi Mystery Mansion and The Mansion of Hidden Souls, it was first released in Japan in June 1996[2], and was later localized and released in the West the following March.[4][5]

Gameplay
The game plays almost identically to Yumemi Mystery Mansion, the player assumes the role of an amnesiac traveler named Fred. He can travel on pre-determined paths and movement is displayed via FMV. Like Jonathan in Yumemi Mystery Mansion, Fred can examine objects, some of which can be picked up and held in his inventory. In addition to the inventory seen in the previous two games, Torico introduces "memory select" which allows Fred to review any conversation he has had. Unlike Jun in The Mansion of Hidden Souls, the player cannot control the conversation Fred has with other characters in any way, but can give items from his inventory in certain situations.
Pressing or rotates the viewpoint between possible directions of travel, and walks in that direction. The button is used to examine and interact with objects. Pressing opens the inventory, and opens the memory select screen.
Disc A is fairly linear and is set in the City of Mists. Fred navigates this quaint town and can enter buildings that are often inhabited by residents. Fred's goal is to find the city of moons. completing this disc ends in only one possible outcome. Disc B can only be accessed once disc A is completed and is set in the city of moons. Unlike disc A, there are several possible outcomes on completing this disc, depending on what items are used and given. Fred's goal here is to recover his memory and find out his true background.
History
Torico initially struggled to obtain Sega of America and Sega Europe's approval, at one point being publicly cancelled[10]. It was subsequently un-cancelled and released in early 1997.
