The Sega Music Development System is a Mega Drive sound driver developed by Artech Digital Entertainments. Commissioned by Sega of America, it was one of the very first Western-developed sound drivers for the system. While workable, the system was reportedly difficult to work with[2], and was soon replaced with Recreational Brainware's GEMS.
