Super Star Wars is a 1992 Super Nintendo action game developed by Sculptured Software and LucasArts based upon the 1977 Star Wars film. Development on a Sega Mega Drive version was said to be almost complete, before LucasArts switched to the Mega-CD for its superior graphical abilities. Ultimately neither version was released. Although articles at the time only mentioned LucasArts, it is likely that publishing duties for either port would've fallen in the hands of JVC, as they were publishers of the original SNES version and of other LucasArts products on Sega platforms, including the Mega-CD version of Star Wars: Rebel Assault. It is also not known if Sculptured was involved with either of these planned ports.
Super Star Wars would be followed by adaptations of the subsequent Star Wars films, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, also on SNES, although Jedi would be the only one of the three to see a port to a Sega platform, in this case the Game Gear.
