MasterGear is a Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear and SG-1000 emulator originally for DOS, written by Marat Fayzullin. The emulator shares part of the source code of fMSX — an MSX emulator previously written by himself.
The original DOS version was released for free on 6 December 1996. The developer later ported MasterGear to Windows and Symbian, which he made available for a fee of $25 and 14.99 respectively,[2] as well as Linux and a few Unix OSes. It was also added to MorphGear, a multi-system emulator for Pocket PC. On 8 July 2915 the Windows version was made freeware.[3] An official Android version is also available on Google Play, which has more features and costs US$4.99 or £4.99.
Although the source code isn't freely available, third parties have ported the emulator to a variety of systems, such as Mac, Windows CE, Pocket PC, Acorn, OS/2, BeOS, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo 64, PC98 and FM Towns.
