Kenga was probably the Ukrainian company responsible for creating the Kenga brand popular in the CIS countries. They established Kenmaster in 1994. Kenga owned 90% of the company and Lamport 10%. Kenmaster started importing consoles and pirated Kenga games from Taiwan and distributing them through the Lamport retail network.
The mascot of the company was a kangaroo of the same name. The animal lived in the fictional mountainous country of Kenland.
An aggressive advertising campaign was launched. The company's management created the Ken-Club whose members had various benefits to buy games and consoles. Ken-Card (5% discount card) was also issued for them. Once a month, a random cardholder got $ 500. Kenga sponsored the Ukrainian program Kenga Predstavlyaet. Magazines such as Velikiy Drakon, Magazina Igrushek and Yunyy tehnik all featured and advertised consoles.
The company left the market at the peak of its popularity and moved the brand to another market, opening a chain of stores for children.[1]
