The game is a side-scrolling platform game played as Bart Simpson, who travels to four locations: China, the North Pole, Egypt, and Hollywood. Each location consists of two levels and one or two minigames, which can be played in any order from the map screen (though the first level must be completed before the second level can be played). The goal of the levels is to collect items and reach the "Map" sign at the end. After both of the levels have been completed for a location, Bart can fight the boss by selecting the "Exit" sign from the map screen, who is always a distant relative of Mr. Burns bearing a striking resemblance to him. Other ''Simpsons'' cast members sometimes make cameo appearances in the levels. The minigames are optional but award Krusty Collectibles when completed (which are worth an extra life after fifteen have been collected). The player can exit any minigame by pressing {{1}}. There is no penalty for losing a minigame, and they can be attempted again if lost.

 +
Bart walks with {{left}} and {{right}} and ducks with {{down}}. He jumps by pressing {{2}} and "super jumps" farther by pressing {{1}}+{{2}} while moving. He can run by holding {{2}} while moving. He can attack by throwing firecracker balls at enemies by pressing {{1}} (though these are limited, so he must first find a bag of firecrackers first). He can climb things (such as the masts in the Junk level or the Sphinx in the Egypt levels) with {{up}} and {{down}}.
 +

 +
Bart has four health points, depicted as balls in the top-left corner, and he loses a health point when he is damaged by an enemy. The number of health points is carried over between levels. Bart loses a life when he loses his last health point and must restart the level from the beginning. The game ends if the player runs out of lives.

The Simpsons: Bart vs. the World, known in Japan as Bart World (バートワールド), is a game based on The Simpsons that was released for the Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear. It is the sequel to The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants.

Story

Bart Simpson wins an art contest. The prize is a Worldwide Krusty the Clown Treasure Hunt for his entire family. However, the contest has been rigged by Mr. Burns and his assistant, Smithers, in order for Burns to rid himself of the Simpson family for all the trouble they have caused him over the years.

Gameplay

Map

The game is a side-scrolling platform game played as Bart Simpson, who travels to four locations: China, the North Pole, Egypt, and Hollywood. Each location consists of two levels and one or two minigames, which can be played in any order from the map screen (though the first level must be completed before the second level can be played). The goal of the levels is to collect items and reach the "Map" sign at the end. After both of the levels have been completed for a location, Bart can fight the boss by selecting the "Exit" sign from the map screen, who is always a distant relative of Mr. Burns bearing a striking resemblance to him. Other Simpsons cast members sometimes make cameo appearances in the levels. The minigames are optional but award Krusty Collectibles when completed (which are worth an extra life after fifteen have been collected). The player can exit any minigame by pressing 1. There is no penalty for losing a minigame, and they can be attempted again if lost.

Bart walks with Left and Right and ducks with Down. He jumps by pressing 2 and "super jumps" farther by pressing 1+2 while moving. He can run by holding 2 while moving. He can attack by throwing firecracker balls at enemies by pressing 1 (though these are limited, so he must first find a bag of firecrackers first). He can climb things (such as the masts in the Junk level or the Sphinx in the Egypt levels) with Up and Down.

Bart has four health points, depicted as balls in the top-left corner, and he loses a health point when he is damaged by an enemy. The number of health points is carried over between levels. Bart loses a life when he loses his last health point and must restart the level from the beginning. The game ends if the player runs out of lives.

Items

In addition to these items, each location has unique "One-of-a-Kind Krusty Items" that are worth 2,000 points.
