Tecnosoft Co., Ltd. (テクノソフト), known as Technosoft, Techno Soft, Tecno Soft, Tecno-Soft, and Techno-Soft depending on where the company name is seen, was a Japanese video game development company, founded in the 1980s. It is best known for its Thunder Force series of games.
Tecnosoft was bought out by pachinko maker Twenty-one Company in 2001 and merged into their R&D division. Technosoft still own the rights to Thunder Force, but have not developed a video game since after the merger (the 2008 game Thunder Force VI was licensed by Technosoft, but was developed and published by Sega).
A lot of Tecnosoft games have distinctive design that makes them easy to recognize: Mechanical enemies often have an organic shape, default shots often have 2 projectiles instead of one, and their games mainly use high contrast coloring for sprites.
